We are currently seeking a Psychiatrist (external independent contractor) to join our Early Psychosis Intervention team (EPI) for a two-year contract.  As part of the EPI Team, the Psychiatrist will provide consultation and attend weekly clinics, as well as develop interdisciplinary treatment plans. The Psychiatrist will provide three days of service, including two days of clinic, seeing clients directly and billing OHIP, and one partial day of consultation and team meetings.


What you will do


  • Attend clinics two days per week and 3.5 hours of team consultation and team meetings
  • Develop an interdisciplinary treatment plan in collaboration with client, family, and treatment team members; monitor and revise plan as appropriate during the course of the treatment plan
  • Provide clinical supervision to multidisciplinary team
  • Provide timely clinical notes to EPI for all consultation and follow-up sessions
  • Maintain communication with EPI and multidisciplinary team between site visits on issues requiring attention that is more urgent.
  • Practice within established guidelines and standards for Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) as evidenced within the Canadian Psychiatric Association (CPA) guidelines and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC) standards for EPI
  • Stay current on relevant legislation and best practices, current research, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient with the use of various software applications and data entry



 What you need to join our team

  • A Medical Degree (M.D.) and Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCP)
  • Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is required, along with member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent malpractice coverage
  • As a fundamental condition of employment, but subject to any legitimate accommodation needs under the Code, new employees must provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 by receiving the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada and must provide CMHA Peel Dufferin with proof of vaccination prior to their start date. If unable to be vaccinated for reasons relating to protected grounds under the Code, new employees must promptly provide CMHA Peel Dufferin with documentation including a completed medical or religious exemption
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Automobile in good repair and insurance coverage as required by agency policy
  • Satisfactory police records search and vulnerable sector screening
